In a heartfelt message on his official Facebook page, former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Mzuzu for their overwhelming support during his recent visit. Writing in both Tumbuka and Chichewa, Mutharika said, “Yewo chomene wena mpoto, zikomo kwambiri Malawi,” — meaning “Thank you very much, Northern Region, and thank you, Malawi.”

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader noted that the people of Mzuzu came out in large numbers to welcome him, something he described as one of the warmest receptions he has ever experienced. “I have never felt so welcome like this,” he wrote. Mutharika went on to declare that this enthusiastic reception reaffirmed the Northern Region’s historical support for the DPP, calling it the party’s true home. “Your welcome is a testament that the North is indeed the home of the DPP,” he stated proudly.

Amidst this wave of appreciation, APM also took the opportunity to remind Malawians of the importance of participating in the upcoming 2025 general elections. He urged citizens to register to vote, emphasizing that it is a critical step in ensuring that their voices are heard and that the country continues to progress under proven leadership.

Mutharika ended his message on a hopeful and motivational note, rallying his supporters with the hashtag #ReturnToProvenLeadership, an indication of his intention to reclaim the presidency in 2025 and guide the country towards stability and development.

As the nation moves closer to the 2025 elections, it is clear that APM is building momentum and counting on the unwavering support of regions like the North to bolster his political campaign. His message is a clear call for Malawians to unite and take action in securing the future of the country by choosing experienced and dependable leadership.

With this public engagement, Mutharika’s return to the political forefront is being closely watched, as the DPP prepares for what could be one of the most defining elections in Malawi’s democratic history.
