Clement Stambuli, the former chairperson of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) convention, has officially left the party and joined the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). His move was confirmed during a welcoming ceremony hosted by Nkhotakota District Governor for DPP, Antony Manyamba.
According to Stambuli, AFORD is fully aware of his decision to exit the party. He further announced his intention to contest for the parliamentary seat in Nkhotakota Central Constituency under the DPP banner in the upcoming elections.
DPP’s District Governor, Antony Manyamba, expressed confidence that Stambuli’s entry into the party would address the concerns raised by many people in the area. “People have been asking if Stambuli could return to continue his work here. His decision to join DPP is because the development projects that people remember in this area came through Stambuli,” said Manyamba.
Clement Stambuli previously served as a cabinet minister during the United Democratic Front (UDF) administration while representing Nkhotakota Central Constituency in Parliament. His return to active politics under DPP is seen as a significant move that could impact political dynamics in Nkhotakota as the election season approaches.
