Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee has announced it will begin investigations into allegations of misconduct involving High Court Judge Justice Kenan Manda. This move, aimed at protecting the rule of law and public interest, follows increasing concerns about the judge’s conduct.

Peter Dimba, Chairperson of the committee, told journalists in Lilongwe that his committee has decided to summon the Malawi Law Society, lawyer Alexious Kamangila, and other individuals who may possess additional information on the matter. The inquiry seeks to determine the validity of the allegations and pursue accountability if necessary.

Dimba noted that this is not the first time complaints have been raised against Judge Manda. However, this time, the committee is committed to ensuring a comprehensive investigation, including the possibility of recommending impeachment if wrongdoing is confirmed.

“This is about upholding the integrity of our judiciary. We will ensure that all avenues are explored to establish the truth,” said Dimba.

The outcome of the investigation could have significant implications for the judiciary and the public’s trust in Malawi’s legal system.
