Hitesh Anadkat and family donate K74 Million to support children’s surgery at Beit Cure International Hospital

By Burnett Munthali

The Founder of First Capital Bank, Hitesh Anadkat, and his family have made a generous donation of K74 million in support of Beit Cure International Hospital’s annual fundraising campaign, aimed at providing free surgeries for children in need.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Anadkat emphasized the importance of healthcare in their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. He highlighted the family’s commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives that provide life-changing services to those in need, regardless of their financial situation.

“The family foundation felt duty-bound to complement the efforts of Beit Cure in providing world-class healthcare for children at no cost, regardless of socio-economic status,” Anadkat stated.

Beit Cure International Hospital, located in Blantyre, is renowned for its specialized orthopedic surgeries for children. Davie Simengwa, the hospital’s Director of Program and Development, explained that the hospital typically conducts around 2,300 surgeries each year. However, a funding gap of K210 million had put nearly 80 children’s operations at risk of not being performed.

“The donation is a full payment of the shortfall to meet the K210 million fundraising budget,” Simengwa said, expressing gratitude for the Anadkat family’s support, which ensures that children who desperately need surgery can receive the necessary treatment.

The hospital’s annual fundraising campaign aims to cover costs for these crucial procedures, ensuring that no child is left untreated due to financial constraints. Anadkat’s donation is expected to have a significant impact on the hospital’s mission to provide free, high-quality healthcare to children in Malawi.

This contribution from the Anadkat family reaffirms their commitment to making a positive impact on the country’s healthcare sector, especially for vulnerable children who rely on the services of Beit Cure International Hospital.
