The family of the late Vice President, Dr. Saulos Chilima, has called for transparency and fairness in the ongoing investigation into the tragic plane crash that took his life and the lives of eight others on June 10.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Joshua Valera expressed gratitude for the establishment of a special committee to lead the investigation but emphasized the need for the process to be recorded and broadcast by media outlets. This, he explained, would allow the public and the family to follow the proceedings closely and ensure full accountability.
Meanwhile, UTM senior member Newton Kambala has voiced concerns over the composition of the investigation committee, stating that it lacks representatives from opposition political parties and other critical sectors, which might limit its credibility.
However, political analyst George Chaima believes that despite the delay in setting up the committee, the investigation will still address key questions surrounding the death of Chilima and the eight other victims. Chaima expressed hope that the findings will provide closure and answers to the public’s concerns regarding the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, with both the family and the nation awaiting the outcome.
