UDF To Trim Presidential Powers

The United Democratic Front (UDF) top governing body has adopted a new constitution, which has resolved to trim presidential powers.

UDF president Atupele Muluzi has confirmed the development saying the national working committee and the national chairperson, together with the president, will collectively be making decisions for the party.

Political and governance commentator Wonderful Mkhutche says this demonstrates that UDF has learnt from its past mistakes, citing the Democratic Progressive Party coalition, which was seemingly more between the young Muluzi and DPP.
