Tour de Dwangwa Kicks Off with a Thrill!

The highly anticipated 2024 Tour de Dwangwa has finally begun, with 40 professional cyclists taking up to tackle the challenging 85-kilometre route from Kande in Nkhatabay District to Chitowe, Dwangwa in Nkhotakota District.

The scenic course winds through picturesque sugar plantations, promising an exhilarating ride for participants and spectators alike.

This year’s event has attracted a diverse pool of cyclists, including those with physical disabilities, who will compete in various distances alongside professional riders.

The Dwangwa Roundtable 69, organizers of the event, aim to promote inclusivity and accessibility in sports.

The champions in both men’s and women’s categories takes home K600,000 each, making this a high-stakes competition. But it’s not just about the prize money – the event also supports a noble cause.

Funds raised from the Tour de Dwangwa will go towards constructing a security fence around Nkhotakota LEA Primary School, which caters to learners with special needs.

With 250 cyclists participating, including amateurs and professionals, providing an action-packed day with the event’s organizers having ensured that everyone has a chance to join in on the fun, regardless of their skill level or abilities.
