Bishop Martin Mtumbuka of the Diocese of Karonga in the Roman Catholic Church, has called upon all politicians in the country and all of their supporters to maintain peace as the country is preparing to hold the 16th September, 2025 elections.

Bishop Mtumbuka has advised all political parties in the country that no political party should be seen doing things as if they are owning any part of this country claiming that Malawians voted for multiparty system of government.

Speaking in Mzuzu on Saturday, Bishop Mtumbuka advised the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) to listen to the voices of Malawians for the elections to be credible, transparent, free and fair to reflect the will of the people.

Bishop Mtumbuka warned Mec against the use of Smartmatic machine -Elections Management Devices (EMD) saying this system will make one who genuinely has lost in the elections to blame the system and the winner to celebrate victory with the support of the system.

“Mec, listen to the voices of Malawians, we want those that have lost genuinely in the elections to accept defeat honorably not blaming the system,” he advised.

Speaking through an audio clip, Political activist Bon Kalindo says signs are written on the wall that on the 16th September, 2025 there will be no credible elections claiming that President Chakwera has already won it without the voters casting their votes.

Kalindo said the Civil Society Organizations Coalition leaders who met Mec officials at a meeting in Lilongwe, have already expressed doubts that the elections will be free and fair warning Malawians that Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja will declare President Chakwera the winner.

He said CSO Coalition leaders have proved it all that Mec will not listen to the voices of Malawians against the use of Smartmatic machine observing that Mec will go ahead using the machines if Malawians will not rise up to stop this.

The activist has called upon all opposition parties and CSOs to come together for one meeting to discuss the future of Malawi so that the country be liberated from the hands of the evil people in the MCP who have vowed to remain in government through power and note credible vote.

“We have to set the date for demonstrations in towns, cities and districts to tell Mec that NO to Smartmatic machines and YES to credible elections,” said Kalindo.

He has assured political party and CSO leaders that he is ready to die for Malawi and if he dies, his blood will fuel democratic revolutions in Malawi saying he will not be the first one to die for Malawi, advising all to put Malawi first.
