The People’s Call for Change: A Demand for President Lazarus Chakwera’s Resignation-Jumbe

By Comrade Jumbe

We all know it too well that our country is facing a an undeniable crisis: fuel scarcity has become a harsh symbol of the nation’s descent into chaos.

It is with heavy hearts but resolute voices that we, the citizens of this proud nation, demand the immediate resignation of President Lazarus Chakwera.

“When the fish rots, it starts from the head.”

Malawi’s current woes stem from the leadership at the very top.

The acute shortage of fuel is not just an inconvenience; it is a dagger into the heart of our economy and livelihoods.

Farmers have no access to fertilizer, businesses grind to a halt, and ordinary citizens are forced into endless queues for fuel that might never come.

This is not merely a logistical failure; it is a failure of governance, planning, and vision.

President Chakwera and his Malawi Congress Party (MCP) were entrusted with the hopes and dreams of millions. Yet, they have squandered this trust.

Promises of economic revival have been replaced by despair, and the president’s silence in the face of this crisis speaks louder than any words could.

“A leader who does not hear the cries of his people cannot claim to lead.”

To those taking to the streets in peaceful demonstration, your courage speaks volumes.

Your placards must carry a singular message: “Chakwera Must Go!” This is not a fight against Ibrahim Matola, the Minister of Energy. Matola, one of our own, cannot be made a scapegoat for a failing administration.

“A tree does not fall because of one branch but because of its rotten roots.” Chakwera’s government has failed as a whole, and no sacrificial lamb can save it now.

The fuel crisis is not an isolated incident; it is the culmination of years of mismanagement and broken promises.

This is not just about fuel—it is about the very future of Malawi.

“If a house is burning, you do not wait for the roof to collapse before taking action.”

The time has come to demand leadership that works for the people, leadership that does not hide behind excuses but confronts challenges with integrity and resolve.

Let us make our voices heard, not in anger but with the unyielding conviction that Malawi deserves better.

The road ahead will be tough, but together, we can reclaim our country’s destiny. Malawi deserves nothing less.

My pen is mighttier than a Sword.
