The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has issued a public notice revealing the preliminary figures for registered voters in the ongoing Phase 2 of the voter registration process for the 2025 General Election.
According to the notice, the data reflects the number of citizens who have registered to vote across the country, offering a glimpse into the anticipated voter turnout for the upcoming election. This phase of registration, which follows earlier rounds, has seen widespread participation as MEC aims to ensure all eligible voters are included in the electoral process.
In a communication shared on MEC official social media, Richard Mveriwa, the Communications Officer for MEC, stated, “Please receive attached public notice issued by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) regarding 2025 General Election preliminary figures of registered voters (Phase 2 of the voter registration process).”
This notice provides critical insights into the progress of voter registration, which is a vital step in preparing for the next national elections. As the registration period continues, MEC is expected to monitor and verify all data to ensure that the final figures accurately reflect the eligible electorate.
The public notice also outlines the upcoming steps in the registration process, urging those who have not yet registered to do so before the closure of registration. MEC is committed to making the process as inclusive and accessible as possible to all eligible citizens.
