His Excellency President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has called on the residents of Nsanje District to register and vote in the upcoming 2025 elections, emphasizing that their participation is crucial for restoring the district’s past glory and unlocking its full potential.
Mutharika made the remarks during a public address at Nsanje Boma, where he acknowledged the challenges that the district has faced under the current administration of President Lazarus Chakwera. The former president expressed concern over the stalled progress and underdeveloped infrastructure in Nsanje and the wider Lower Shire region.
He assured the people of Nsanje that if re-elected, he would prioritize the district’s development, focusing on critical infrastructure projects and economic growth. Mutharika pointed to several initiatives that he had started during his tenure, including roads, bridges, and flood protection measures, which had a direct impact on improving the lives of residents in the Lower Shire region.
“Under my leadership, Nsanje and the Lower Shire were on the path to growth and development. We began important projects that have the potential to transform this district, but they were left incomplete,” Mutharika said. “If you give me another chance, I will ensure these projects are completed and new ones are started to unlock the full potential of this region.”
He urged residents to take the upcoming elections seriously and ensure they register and vote for change, emphasizing that their vote is their power to shape a brighter future for Nsanje. “The only way to reclaim the progress that was lost is by voting for the right leadership. Your vote is the key to changing the direction of this district,” Mutharika added.
The former president also highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration in rebuilding Nsanje and the Lower Shire, calling on local leaders and community members to work together to advocate for development.
As voter registration continues across the country, Mutharika’s call has resonated with many in Nsanje, who are eager for change and a brighter future for their district.
