MCP urges youth to register to Vote ahead of 2025 elections

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has made a passionate appeal to young people in Malawi to register with the Malawi Electoral Commission in preparation for the 2025 elections.

This call was made by MCP officials Moses Kunkuyu and Vitumbiko Mumba on December 7, 2024, in Lilongwe.

To drive home their message, the MCP organized a youth concert dubbed “Kutchaya Kugwetsa” at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The event featured performances by popular musicians Jetu, Blasto, and Chizm o, with Dan Lu set to take the stage later.

Despite the excitement surrounding the event, reports indicate that the turnout was lower than expected.

The concert, which was open only to youths who had registered to vote, aimed to encourage more young people to participate in the electoral process.

However, the low attendance has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the MCP’s voter registration drive.

In a bid to boost morale and encourage more youths to register, Vitumbiko Mumba announced the “Dolo Kwambiri Amavotela Chakwera Challenge.”

The challenge invites artists to compose songs that promote voter registration and support for President Lazarus Chakwera.

The winner of the challenge will receive a cash prize of K5 million.

As Malawi gears up for the 2025 elections, the MCP’s efforts to mobilize young voters are crucial.
