Kaonga Constituency Football and Netball Trophy Finals Draws Massive Support

Scores of people gathered at Uliwa Primary school ground to show their support for the K12 million Duncan Kaonga constituency football and netball trophy finals.

The event was a huge success, with Duncan Kaonga, the People’s Party vice president, promising to bring more tournaments and socio-economic development initiatives to the area.

Kaonga was thrilled with the overwhelming support, saying, “The massive turnout clearly demonstrates that the people of Karonga-Nyungwe want me to lead, and I’m committed to delivering more opportunities for sports and development.”

Taniel Njawala, representing the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), emphasized the importance of developing sports in rural areas to improve the national football team.

“I’m impressed with the talent I’ve seen, and I urge stakeholders to work together to nurture this talent,” Njawala said.

The trophy finals were a resounding success, with Jetty Stars FC emerging as champions in the football category and Uliwa Sisters taking top honours in netball receiving cash prizes, trophies, uniforms, and balls, while the runners-up also received cash prizes and trophies.

Trophy Winners:
Football Category: Jetty Stars FC (champions) and Young Bullet (runners-up)
Netball Category: Uliwa Sisters (champions) and Bafana-Bafana sisters (runners-up)

The event was a clear testament to the power of sports in bringing communities together and promoting development.
