Social Commentator Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, has claimed to have received numerous inquiries regarding the existence of the National liberation Party (NLP) perceived to be a newly established political party in Malawi.
Sunganimoyo has informed Malawians that the party is not yet registered and has the intention to register it as a fully-fledged political party in Malawi saying the delay was due to his personal desire to carefully observe the performance of the current government.
He says he has been a prominent member of a political party that supported and campaigned for Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to become President of the Republic of Malawi in June, 2020 saying as one of his supporters, he could not rush into registering a new political party that could potentially oppose his leadership without proper observation and guidance.
Writing in a statement dated 5th January, 2025 Sunganimoyo says as a supporter and member of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), he endeavored to support President Chakwera’s leadership but, he now feels compelled to work and campaign against him and the MCP administration believing that President Chakwera has failed to deliver.
Sunganimoyo says there is a pervasive sense of hopelessness among Malawians regarding the current leadership of President Chakwera observing that if he was to support Chakwera for a second-term in office, he would be committing a disservice to the Malawian people that are struggling.
He says the National Liberation Party (NLP)exists to establish a nation where unity is paramount in addressing poverty, poor governance, corruption, and economic turmoil that Malawi has faced believing that without unity, the country cannot achieve meaningful progress.
The NLP President says Malawians cannot eradicate corruption without unity, nor can they alleviate poverty or stabilize their economy without unity observing that the lack of unity in Malawi is the primary reason Malawians continue to grapple with persistent problems.
He says the system of governance has remained unchanged, the current MCP government is employing the same methods as its predecessors, saying it is regrettable that after 60 years of independence, Malawi remain in a state of hopelessness.
“We have not fully utilized our resources or shared them equitably, we are not doing enough for our nation and its citizens,” reads the statement in part.
Sunganimoyo says this system has arisen because the country’s political, religious, and traditional leaders have lost sight of the nation’s vision, observing that they have neglected their responsibilities to the nation and its people, prioritizing on their personal interests.
He has finally urged all interested Malawians to support the National Liberation Party (NLP) financially to enable it be registered and bring about transformative change for the country, its citizens, and investors saying their support will be greatly appreciated.
