Vice President Michael Usi pays final respects to the late Dr. John Mataya

Vice President Dr. Michael Usi joined mourners today in honoring the life of the late Dr. John Mataya during a funeral ceremony held at Kapesi Village, Traditional Authority Kachere, in Dedza District. The event brought together family, friends, government officials, and members of the community to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Dr. Mataya, whose life was dedicated to service, education, and faith.

Delivering a eulogy on behalf of President Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi, Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Mataya family and the wider Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) community. Kunkuyu praised Dr. Mataya’s contributions to various sectors, highlighting his impactful roles in the civil service, private sector, and religious community.

Dr. Mataya’s commitment to education was a recurring theme in the tributes. Traditional Authority Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of love and harmony within families and communities. Speaking on behalf of the family, Chikumbutso Njolomole described Dr. Mataya as a treasure whose contributions enriched both his family and the community.
