Malawians will continue grappling with unbearable costs of living, shortage of forex and fuel, as Government now shifts its energy and focus towards barring Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika from contesting this year’s election.
The over obsession towards Mutharika has even moved government operatives to splashing Millions of tax payers money close to K300 million, just to bring back the age restriction bill to parliament, with Mutharika as the main target.
The bill, intends to amend section 80, subsection 6 of the constitution, to put an age limit of 75 on those vying for the position of President of Malawi.
Cables can reveal that Tonse Alliance has assembled youths that are being led by mercenaries party symphasizers to march to parliament and present a petition demanding that the bill be brought back on the floor as parliament meets later this month.
Member of Parliament who defected to MCP will then present the bill in parliament in reaction to the petition.
Disgruntled party sympathizers have already pocketed K50 million and are tasked to mobilise youths from around Lilongwe to present the petition as soon as parliament resumes sitting later this month ” revealed our source.
Some opposition political party leaders are also said to be supporting the bill and meetings have been arranged where more money will exchange hands.
Budgets have been drawn to buy the media and other members of parliament from the opposition to support the bill.
Cables understand that CSOs, Chiefs and social commentators will be paraded on state controlled by government state owned radio while others will hold press conferences in support of the bill.
