Human Rights Advocator Sir Charles Ben Longwe, says it can be good for people like him to go for an early grave than visionary leaders who could build the country from destruction dying in circumstances with millions of questions than answers citing the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima.
Longwe said there is no truth about Chikangawa Commission of Inquiries faulting the commissioners wrong for not interviewing Mrs. Mary Chilima who knew her husband well and had all of his secrets as they were sleeping together in one room.
He said the Mozambican Commission of Inquiry that was instituted to investigate circumstances surrounding the death of President Samora Moses Machel who died in a tragic plane crash on the 19th October, 1986 in Swaziland, interviewed Mrs. Gracia Machel who disclosed the prime suspects Peter.W. Botha of the apartheid South Africa and Kamuzu Banda of Malawi.
Speaking through an audio clip, Ben Longwe has praised Mrs. Chilima for telling President Chakwera and his wife, Monica Chakwera on the face that he is not satisfied with the inquiries as she is continuing mourning and getting no convincingly answers as to why Dr. Chilima had to die in such circumstances.
Ben Longwe said there have been two inquiries, one for the Germans and the other, for Malawians but all faced interruptions before the results were released saying President Chakwera travelled to Germany and Dr. Patricia Kaliati and Angella on issues linking to the same, Chilima’s death.
He has claimed that justice was not served in the Chikangawa plane victims saying it is not surprised for Mrs. Mary Chilima saying she is still in mourning regarding those 24 hours as efforts to address these concerns have fallen short of being satisfactory.
The activist said with Mrs. Mary Chilima’s confession that he is still having unanswered questions in the tragic death of her husband, Dr. Saulosi Chilima, no amount of police can arrest her describing the commission of inquiry instituted by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as a shame and a total disgrace to the nation and the world.
“There is nothing wrong for the Chilima’s family invite President Chakwera and his entire MCP to the launch of SKC Foundation and there is no way the function could close its doors to Chakwera being the President of the country,” said Ben Longwe.
He said the best of what President Chakwera could have done after receiving the false information that the plane reached Mzuzu when in actual sense, the plane never reached Mzuzu, was for Chakwera to suspend some officers but never did this forgetting that the death of Dr. Chilima was a national concern.
Meanwhile, President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah has advised Mrs. Mary Chilima that if she finds the police and courts in Malawi not reliable and trusted, she can take the matter to the African Union Court.
Jumah has observed that Mrs. Mary Chilima used a wrong podium to express her concerns and grievances, but to President Chakwera, the matter was already closed thanking her for telling Chakwera in his eyes that she does not have convincingly answers as to why Dr. Chilima had to die in such circumstances.
