Speaking to Capital FM, NDP President Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo said the decision comes after months of consultations and careful consideration. He emphasized that the alliance is rooted in a mutual commitment to fostering national development and fighting against the misuse of public resources.

“We want to align ourselves with a party that is committed to national development, not self-enrichment,” said Mwenefumbo. “Our decision to work with the DPP is based on our shared goals and principles, particularly the desire to uplift Malawians through sustainable economic and social policies.”

Mwenefumbo pointed out that while the NDP had engaged in talks with other political groups, the DPP stood out due to its clear development agenda and willingness to collaborate on meaningful reforms.

He also revealed that the two parties are in the final stages of formalizing the partnership and that an official statement will be issued soon to inform the public of the alliance’s structure and objectives.

As political momentum builds toward the September polls, the announcement marks a significant step in reshaping Malawi’s political landscape and could influence voter dynamics in the coming weeks.
