By Draxon Maloya

The Small Producers Development and Transporters Association (SPRODETA) has kicked off an annual planning workshop in Mzuzu, bringing together 60 staff members from its five offices across Malawi aimed to analyse the organization’s strategic plan for 2025-2029 and discuss key areas of focus.

According to Anna Chikoko, SPRODETA’s Projects Manager, the workshop is a continuation of the organization’s efforts to provide rural households with the necessary tools, resources, and training to achieve food security, improve income levels, and build resilience against economic and environmental challenges.

“Through various programs, we address the pressing needs of rural households by focusing on areas such as agricultural development, access to markets, capacity building, and advocacy for favorable policies,” Chikoko said

Daniel Nyirennda, SPRODETA’s Programmes Coordinator, highlighted the organization’s partnerships with funding agencies, including We Effect, Danish Church Aid, OREC, WFP, and Spark Microgrants.

“SPRODETA’s approach is community-driven, ensuring that solutions are tailored to the unique needs of each community. The organization focuses on areas such as agricultural development, access to markets, capacity building, and advocacy for favorable policies,” said Nyirenda.

Committed to uplifting the most vulnerable communities through sustainable livelihood initiatives SPRODETA is a local Non-Governmental Organization established in 2009 and registered in 2012 by the Government of Malawi under the Trustee Incorporation Act Act (CAP .5.03).
