Human Rights Advocator Sir Charles Ben Longwe has claimed that since 1990s, the country has been witnessing electoral Alliances with promises of working together and sharing the national cake equally, that there are one in one country, Malawi.
Ben Longwe has observed that after the elections, the Alliance leaders forget about their promises to share the national cake equally and as such, the winning President and his ministers becomes arrogance, closing their ears not wanting to listen to the partners.
He said there have been one strong alliance in the eyes of people in the country, Tonse Alliance saying Malawians welcomed this alliance that it will do better in Government not knowing the other side what was their agenda, the end result was Chikangawa forest.
Speaking from his Hard Knocks University, Ben Longwe said opposition party leaders have no interest to form an alliance against the coming back into government of President Chakwera case in point memories of Chikangawa forest, the forest is speaking for itself that the MCP did not want to share the cake with Dr. Saulosi Chilima.
Longwe said the DPP has come out in the open that it will stand alone in the elections, so too, the UDF and UTM saying the UTM has vowed not to take up the position of running mate, them will go for the presidential race.
He said Chikangawa forest has taught Malawians lessons from a mistake that one cannot play with a crocodile saying it has happened that MCP did not want to honor the agreement which was witnessed by lawyers and religious leaders, among others.
Ben Longwe has reminded Malawians that former MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka disowned the agreement signed between Chakwera and Dr. Saulosi Chilima dismissing claims that there was such an agreement.
He said Mkaka’s statement was received by Malawians with mixed reactions prompting Dr. Saulosi Chilima to address Malawians that the agreement stood as it was signed 5 years to Dr. Chakwera and the other 5 years to him.
“Greed by MCP leaders have escorted Dr. Chilima to an early grave so that it remains alone not to share the national cake to the others but the cake to remain on their tables,” said Longwe.
He said greed by MCP leaders has made all those who tried their best for the MCP to be power crying, the leaders has turned away their faces from them claiming that people who are fattening their berries now, are those who did not take any part in the change of government in 2020.
