Political commentator George Phiri has described the newly formed alliance of four political parties as a “massive” development ahead of the upcoming September elections.
The alliance comprises MAFUNDE, the People’s Party (PP), the Freedom Party (FP), and the People’s Development Party (PDP).
The four parties have come together in a bid to strengthen their political influence and present a united front during the general elections.
Phiri commended the alliance, stating that such coalitions foster unity not only among party members but also among Malawians at large.
However, he advised the leaders of the four parties to engage in dialogue to determine who will lead the alliance.
He emphasized the importance of also consulting their supporters before settling on a presidential candidate to represent the alliance in the elections.
This development comes amid ongoing talks between the United Democratic Front (UDF), UTM, and the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD), who are also exploring the possibility of forming a coalition ahead of the September polls.
