President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has arrived at the Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi Company in Lilongwe.
He is presiding over the official launch of the company’s latest technological investment — the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) production line.
The visit underscores the President’s ongoing commitment to promoting industrial development and private sector investment in Malawi.
Vice President Dr. Michael Usi is also in attendance, signaling the government’s high-level support for industrial growth.
Minister of Trade and Industry Vitumbiko Mumba has accompanied the President, emphasizing the importance of the event to Malawi’s trade and manufacturing agenda.
Other notable dignitaries present include senior government officials, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa executives, international investors, and members of the diplomatic community.
As part of the ceremony, President Chakwera is currently conducting a detailed inspection of the PET plant.
The state-of-the-art facility is designed to enhance the company’s production of plastic beverage bottles using advanced and environmentally friendly processes.
This investment is part of Coca-Cola Beverages Malawi’s broader strategy to modernize operations and increase production capacity in line with global standards.
Company officials explained that the PET line is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and support Malawi’s efforts to promote green industrial practices.
The PET line also aligns with Malawi’s broader industrialization drive under the Malawi 2063 vision, which emphasizes value addition, job creation, and technology-driven growth.
President Chakwera’s inspection included interactions with technical staff and engineers who demonstrated the machinery’s high-speed and automated functions.
He was shown how raw materials are transformed into safe, durable, and recyclable plastic bottles that meet international quality standards.
