An online Television station, Bakili Muluzi TV has alleged that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) led government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has declared war against the southerners with only 5 months to go before the 16th September, 2025 General Elections.
Bakili Muluzi TV said the MCP is doing all of what it can to make sure that UTM and DPP goes to the polls in September, 2025 without their presidential candidates claiming that UTM president Dr. Dalitso Kabambe will be appearing in court and others, will follow him.
He said it is alleged that Dr. Kabambe took it by himself to take 350million Us Dollars without approval by the Malawi Parliament while he was serving as Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor alongside his second in command, Henry Mathanga.
The Radio has described the resurrection of Dr. Kabambe’s case back to life as politically motivated saying the MCP has one agenda of blocking Dr. Kabambe from standing as a presidential candidate on the 16th September, 2025 elections because he has a case to answer.
Bakili Muluzi TV has argued that Dr. Kabambe was the Governor of the Central Bank and he is answering the case with Mathanga claiming that the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has a board of Directors but none, is answering the case in court.
He gave an example of the former Minister of Homeland Security Nicholas Dausi observing that he was not arrested for the case of procuring prison materials using dubious prices than the original prices but the then Minister of Finance Joseph Mwanamvekha was arrested because was from the South.
The Radio has recalled that the late Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda did not want to hear that people are becoming rich, saying in 1983 Mr. Majaheni Gondwe of Rumphi district was arrested and lost all of his property to the MCP under the Forfeiture Act.
“Today, the very same Forfeiture Act is not applied to question Richard Chimwendo Banda on how he has turned to be a billionaire over a night with 365 plots in the country,” alleged Bakili Muluzi TV.
He said the prominent lawyer to preside over Dr. Kabambe’s case is Kamudoni Nyasulu alleging that in 1992, he arrested Chakufwa Thom Chihana without going through trial and Orton Edgar Ching’oli Chirwa who was killed in prison under his watch.
Bakili Muluzi TV said Mwanamvekha was arrested for misreporting to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that Malawi’s economy was on track saying at that time, Nima soap was at K70 but with the MCPs misreporting of the economy, soap is at K1000
