Bakili Muluzi TV online television station has demanded the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) to disclose to the nation their source of funding.
Bakili Muluzi TV said CDEDI as a watchdog society has all the rights reserved to demand transparency and accountability from political parties and other organizations but first they have to demonstrate transparency and accountability by themselves for people to know and trust them.
He said HRDC and Sylvester Namiwa do not want to disclose the their funding sponsors but they are at the top demanding transparency and accountability from others, describing this as nonsense.PIJ investigation reveals identities of Namiwa attackers
The Activist said HRDC and Namiwa have undisclosed sponsors who are providing resources to hold press conferences, buying fuel and paying their workers as salaries per month.
He said in 1984 Mama Cecilia Tamanda Kadzamira started Chitukuko Cha Amayi Malawi (CCAM), its funding came from government parastatal organizations and the citizens who were forced to buy membership card.
The Activist said in 1994 there was the Freedom Foundation Trust run by Annie Muluzi and Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri Muluzi, in 2012 Joyce Banda Foundation, Safe Motherhood Foundation by Calister Mutharika, Shaping the Future Foundation by Monica Chakwera, saying these organizations were receiving direct funding from parastatals and at no time they stood up to disclose their sponsors.
He said transparency and accountability must start from home so that whatever or whereverthe project is being implemented, it has to earn trust that there’s cooperation, transparency and accountability in the eyes of the citizens.Namiwa calls for uniform retirement age in public service
Bakili Muluzi TV has advised CDEDI and Sylvester Namiwa that before blaming the First Lady’s Beautify Malawi ( BEAM) Trust that it is receiving undisclosed funds from organizations both locally and international, it should disclose sources of funding they are receiving for transparency and accountability.
” Malawians know very well that HRDC and CDEDI are being sponsored by politicians in government or opposition leaders for their personal benefits,” he said.

He said Madam Monica Chakwera through the Shaping the Future Foundation even employed her daughter Violet Chakwera as a Diplomat in London and his son, Nick Chakwera was responsible for Mining contracts questioning the HRDC and CDEDI where were they with their principles of transparency and accountability?
