when truth is denied, the nation must speak: our democracy is crumbling brick by brick

By Comrade Imran Jumbe

Fellow Malawians

“When the path is crooked, the destination will always be wrong.”

The time has come to rise—not with stones, but with truth; not with hate, but with courage; not with violence, but with the unwavering demand for justice.

As we walk toward the september general elections, we ask: Are we walking toward a fair contest, or are we being led to a predetermined outcome? Because no matter how beautiful the wrapping, if the gift is poisoned, it will still kill the one who receives it.

We demand answers. We demand reforms. We demand truth.

  1. THE VOTERS’ REGISTER MUST BE AUDITED BY THE PEOPLE

“A house without inspection will collapse on its own people.

MEC must open the doors and allow every citizen, every political party, every civil organization to audit the voters’ roll. If the process was clean, let it be seen. If it was honest, let it be examined. What do you fear if your work is pure?

  1. WE DEMAND A FRESH, CLEAN REGISTRATION EXERCISE

The voter registration process was rushed, hidden in shadows, and designed to exclude many.

“You cannot reap where you did not sow.” We demand a fresh registration period that reaches every corner of Malawi, giving every eligible citizen the right to vote. No shortcuts. No cover-ups.

  1. ANABEL MTALIMANJA MUST RESIGN IMMEDIATELY

A referee cannot sit at the table of one team and claim neutrality.

Justice Annabel Mtalimanja’s leadership at MEC is compromised. Her silence in the face of electoral irregularities is louder than any speech.

We demand her immediate resignation, along with every MCP die-hard in influential positions at MEC. “You don’t ask the fox to guard the chicken coop.”

  1. WE SAY NO TO SMARTMATIC: MACHINES OF SUSPICION

How can we call an election free and fair when Smartmatic machines—already linked to controversy and rigging across the world—are being smuggled into our process? “If your cooking pot is known for poison, even clean water will be feared.” These machines must not be used. Period.

  1. EQUAL MEDIA ACCESS FOR ALL – NOT JUST MBC

It is a national shame that only MBC, the state broadcaster, is given dominance in covering election events, while others are blocked.

“A drum only heard in one corner of the village cannot lead the whole dance.” Every media house must be allowed equal access to inform the nation, or this election is already stolen.

  1. REGISTRATION WINDOW WAS A FRAUD

The time given for registration was not enough and the registration it’s self was full of irregularities doubled names, missing of names in the voters registration roll and deliberate registration of minors.

  1. WE ARE GOING TO COURT. AND IF THE COURT FAILS, WE WILL GO FOR DEMONSTRATION

We will seek an injunction to stop this rigged process. If the courts refuse to protect the Constitution, the people will defend it with their voices and their feet.

We will march across Lilongwe, Blantyre, Mzuzu, Zomba, and every town that still believes in justice. We will rise not to destroy, but to restore.

Let it be known: there will be no MCP government come 16 September if these demands are not met.

Let it be written in history that when the ballot was being stolen, we chose to stand. Not for one party, but for the soul of Malawi.

“When the drums of justice are silent, the footsteps of the people become louder.”

The people are awake.
The people are watching.
The people are ready.

We demand transparency. We demand fairness. We demand democracy. And we will not be silenced.

Struggle continues
