President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has expressed deep sadness over the tragic events in Mufumbwe District, where two lives were lost during a confrontation involving illegal mining activities.

President HICHILEMA says that every life is sacred and that such a loss is profoundly felt by the entire nation.

He has extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

The President has described the tragedy as entirely avoidable.

He further notes that such devastating events underscore the critical importance of upholding the rule of law, not as a tool of punishment, but as a shared commitment to safety, dignity, and mutual respect.

President HICHILEMA has appealed to all Zambians to unite in building a society where peace, development, and national pride are sustained through respect for legal processes and a collective responsibility to protect one another.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by State House Chief Communications Specialist CLAYSON HAMASAKA.

Mr. HAMASAKA also stated that President HICHILEMA is closely monitoring the situation and continues to receive detailed updates as investigations unfold.
