Yemeni Army Launches Fresh Missile Strike on Israel in Retaliation for Airstrikes on Hodeidah

Hodeidah, Yemen – July 7, 2025

The Yemeni Armed Forces have launched a retaliatory missile strike targeting Israeli positions in the occupied Palestinian territories, in response to a wave of Israeli airstrikes that hit western Yemen on Sunday night.

According to local sources, at least 20 Israeli airstrikes pounded strategic areas in the Hodeidah Governorate, causing significant damage. The strikes are believed to be part of an ongoing Israeli military campaign against what it claims are “hostile” operations originating from Yemeni territory.

In a swift response, the Yemeni military launched what it called a “decisive missile attack” targeting key Israeli positions. While the exact locations struck in the occupied territories have not been disclosed, Israeli media confirmed that at least one ballistic missile managed to penetrate Israeli air defenses and entered the skies over occupied Palestine.

In a public statement released Sunday night, the Yemeni Armed Forces declared that they had directly confronted the Israeli aggression and reiterated their unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces assure our people and the free people of our nation that they are highly prepared and, with Allah’s help, capable of confronting the aggressors. These aggressions will not weaken us or our military capabilities. Support operations for Gaza and Palestine will continue at a high pace. We will defend our country and our nation with all the strength we possess, Allah willing,” the statement read.

The latest exchange marks an escalation in regional tensions, as Yemen continues its involvement in what it calls a “moral and religious duty” to defend the people of Gaza amidst Israel’s prolonged war on the besieged enclave.

So far, no casualties have been officially reported from either side following the missile strike, but military analysts warn that continued escalation could draw in more regional actors and deepen instability in the Middle East.

International observers have expressed concern over the widening scope of the conflict and the humanitarian implications, particularly in Yemen, which has been reeling from years of war, famine, and economic collapse.

The situation remains volatile, and further military actions from both sides are anticipated in the coming days.
