Kalindo warns Mombera University Contractors to be accountable

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo has warned all those that were entrusted to construct Momberal university in Mzimba district to account for the money received and spent failing which, the Malawi First- a Citizen Group is taking them to court.

Kalindo said Paramount Holdings, Dec Construction, Minister of Transport Jacob Hara, Minister of Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and other contractors owes Malawians explanations on why Mombera University was completed on paper and not on the ground.

He said it is high time politicians have been taking the people of the North as useless saying time has now come for all those who were entrusted to construct Mombera University to account for the billions of Kwachas received and spent.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said his visit to Mombera University has revealed that the works of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and his DPP are the ones speaking citing the tarmac road but the 5 years of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera brought nothing to the site besides billions of Kwachas allocated to it.

Kalindo has claimed that since 2020 the Malawi Parliament has been allocating funds for the construction of Mombera University expressing fears that all these monies went into the pockets of crooked politicians of the MCP government with nothing to show on the ground.

He has claimed that all the contractors who were seen at the site are nowhere to be seen today, saying they will all stand in a court of law to tell Malawians on who told them to leave the site after pocketing billions of Kwachas into their pockets for no work done.

He said it is no wonder that the European Union (EU) has threaten to withdraw military support to Malawi Police Service and Malawi Defense Force on the claims that rampant corruption has become the order of the day in Malawi from the President, ministers down to the chiefs and ordinary people.

“The 5 years of President Chakwera has been characterized by rampant corruption. Malawians are demanding answers on the Mombera University,” said Kalindo.

He has expressed his deep concern over the way Malawians are suffering in South Africa claiming that many are failing to access medical treatment because they don’t have sacred documentations (passports)

Kalindo said some Malawians paid for he passports but it is taking long to access them saying all this is happening at a time when President Chakwera is busy splashing out the K50,000s satanic money to chiefs, teachers, women and youth groups, and the Clergy to bounce back into government through vote rigging.

He has finally assured Mec and President Chakwera that Malawians of today will not accept vote rigging scheme to take place in their country beside the MCP training other people who will be released before the 16th September, 2025 elections to go flat out intimidating and threatening people to vote for Boma ndilomweli silikuchoka.
