Political activist Bon Kalindo and Limpopo FM Nkhanga zaona programme producer Comrade Ntanyiwa, have asked Malawians to open their eyes on Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kunkuyu’s remarks in Blantyre that Mec is to launch the campaign period to put President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera back to the State House.
The two activists have claimed that Kunkuyu was heard speaking on both MBC Radio and Television that Mec is to launch campaign period to put President Chakwera back to the State House, must not be taken lightly, there is sense in it.
Kalindo and Ntanyiwa said the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) has been silence not condemning President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s handouts which he is distributing at the State House to woo voters to vote for him on the 16th September, 2025 elections.
The two activists said what Kunkuyu said might be true observing that Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja is on record having rejected independent auditors from auditing the voters’ roll for the 16th September, 2025 elections and clinging to the use of Smartmatic machines in the transmission of votes.
Comrade Ntanyiwa said Malawians are all ware that Justice Mtalimanja will declare President Chakwera the winner at all cost afraid of the case of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, who died in a mysterious plane crash in the Chikangawa forest on 10th June, 2024.
Ntanyiwa has assured President Chakwera that it was a mistake to kill Dr. Chilima claiming that his death has de-campaigned him up to the stage of being seen as no important in the eyes of Malawians except only to a few individuals who are deceiving him that Malawians are rallying behind him.
He has asked the Electoral body that if a government minister is saying MEC will put to power President Chakwera why wasting time to launch the campaign period other than going ahead to announce that President Chakwera has won the elections before the polls?
The activist has claimed that if it is to go by Kunkuyu’s remarks, Mec is not independent as it is supposed to be, it is being used by a political party in government which is the MCP in whether one likes it or not, to declare that President Chakwera has won the elections with a landslide victory.
“According to Mec, 7.2 million people in Malawi registered for the 16th September, 2025 elections, Malawians don’t know where this figure has come from, with concerns piled up at Mec without responses,” said Comrade Ntanyiwa.
He said he feel very sorry to the Inspector General of Police and Army Commander, Dr. Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma and Mr. Arks Muwanga that any change of government in Malawi, they will be fully held accountable for many cases happened in 5 years of President Chakwera.
Comrade Ntanyiwa has reminded Malawians that the late Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda made himself Life President of the Republic of Malawi but he did not rule Malawi for life assuring all that have abused the rights of others under the protection of the MCP that they will be brought to book.
