Political activist Bon Kalindo, has praised the courts in Malawi for granting permission to opposition parties DPP, UTM and other individuals to apply for a judicial review for independent auditors to verify the voters’ roll and saying no to the use of Smartmatic machines to transmit election figures from constituency tally centres.
Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanj and Chief Elections Officer Andrew Mpesi have all along been rejecting the proposals to the dismay of millions of Malawians which are in line with Mec mandate of delivering free, fair, transparent and credible elections.
Angered by the rejection of their proposals, Malawians have been taking to the streets peaceful demonstrations to force Mtalimanja and Mpesi to resign for clinging to something contrary to the will of Malawians.
However, all the attempts to hold peaceful demonstrations in the Capital-Lilongwe ended in tears with MCP sending its youth operatives to foil the demonstrations armed themselves with panga knives and other dangerous weapons while masking their faces.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said the court has now been proved to be independent claiming that many Malawians lost hope that the court can rule in their favor following free for all money which the MCP is distributing to various groups of people.
Kalindo has appealed to the judges to continue standing with the people that are praying for free and fair elections for Mec to allow independent auditors access the figures and Smartmatic machines not be used in the country.
He has also appealed to opposition party leaders and other patriotic Malawians to sit down and write a joint letter to the international community that the Mec under the influence of the MCP was planning to conduct undemocratic elections in the country.
“We are expressing our thanks to the courts for siding with the people and Malawians are praying that the court will listen to their cries for justice to be seen,” said Kalindo.
Mrs. Esmay Kadyampakeni writing on her face book page, has asked Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja to stand with the people now that the matter she has been rejecting is now in court praying to her to be a born-again woman.
Kadyampakeni said Mtalimanja was preparing to conduct poisonous elections in Malawi claiming that the results of these elections were already known in advance through the actions which were displayed by her and Mr. Andrew Mpesi.
She asked Mtalimanja that being a woman, she should love Malawi first above the MCP the party she is affiliated to, assuring her that if the court rules in favor of Malawians to cancel the elections for Mec to conduct another voter registration exercise, Malawians will be at her door-step.
