The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on Sunday held a massive political rally at the BCA Ferries Ground in Blantyre, attracting scores of supporters and party officials who echoed their readiness to reclaim power in the upcoming September 16 elections.

Among the key figures in attendance were Members of Parliament Hon. Noel Lipipa, Charles Mchacha, Yeremiah Chihana, and veteran politician Francis Mphepo. The event turned into a platform for the party’s top brass to criticize the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) for what they described as failed leadership and broken promises.

Hon. Sameer Suleiman, the DPP’s Director of Operations, did not mince words as he dismissed the MCP’s newly launched manifesto, calling it “unrealistic, childish, and nothing more than a wish list meant to deceive Malawians once again.”

Echoing the sentiment, DPP Vice President for the Southern Region, Hon. Joseph Mwanamveka, declared that the DPP was poised for a political comeback under the leadership of former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

“We will bounce back to power in September,” Mwanamveka said. “With Professor Mutharika at the helm, we will steer this country towards a brighter future—one based on genuine development and sound leadership.”

The rally underscored the DPP’s unity and resolve as they enter the final stretch of the campaign period. Supporters from across Blantyre and surrounding areas gathered in large numbers, reaffirming their confidence in Mutharika’s leadership and the party’s vision for the country.

As the countdown to the elections continues, the DPP says it remains focused on restoring hope to Malawians and correcting what it calls the governance failures of the MCP-led administration.
