Kabambe Vows to End Tribalism and Corruption as He Submits Presidential Nomination

United Transformation Movement (UTM) presidential candidate Dr. Dalitso Kabambe has come out strongly against tribalism and political corruption, describing them as the root causes of Malawi’s struggles.

Speaking after submitting his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) ahead of the highly anticipated September 16 polls, Kabambe pledged to cleanse the government of nepotism and corrupt practices if elected into office.

“Our country is bleeding because of tribalism and unchecked corruption among politicians,” said Kabambe. “We cannot develop as a nation if we continue to prioritize connections over competence. I am standing to break that cycle.”

MEC Chairperson Anabel Mtalimanja confirmed receipt of Kabambe’s papers, adding that the Commission will thoroughly vet all submissions before releasing the official list of candidates on August 8.

She encouraged Kabambe and his running mate, Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, to lead by example by promoting peace and focusing on issue-based campaigns.

With the race heating up, all eyes will be on whether Kabambe’s bold stance on accountability and unity will resonate with voters hungry for change.
