Mutharika Unveils Strategy to Woo Voters Ahead of September Polls

By Suleman Chitera,

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader, Professor Peter Mutharika, has announced that the party will soon roll out voter mobilization and engagement strategies as it gears up for the highly anticipated presidential elections scheduled for September 16.

Posting on the party’s official Facebook page, Mutharika expressed concern over what he described as the country’s steady decline over the past five years under the current administration. He emphasized that the DPP’s renewed mission is to rescue Malawians from worsening economic and social hardships.

“In the last five years, our beloved Malawi has been destroyed. Our focus is to save Malawians from this suffering and rebuild our nation,” Mutharika wrote.

As part of his campaign trail last week, Mutharika officially submitted his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), confirming his candidacy for the presidency. He also named former MEC Chairperson Jane Ansah as his running mate—a move that has sparked both support and debate across the political landscape.

With campaign momentum building up, the DPP leader is expected to unveil a detailed manifesto in the coming weeks, outlining his party’s roadmap to economic revival and national unity.
