Joyce Banda Rallies for a Better Malawi: Pledges Growth and Empowerment

NSANJE, Malawi — Former President and People’s Party (PP) leader Dr. Joyce Banda has reignited her vision for Malawi, urging citizens to rally behind her in the upcoming elections, promising a transformative agenda for national revival.

Speaking to a passionate crowd at Mtowe Sports Ground in Nsanje District, Dr. Banda said Malawians deserve better—and she’s ready to deliver. “During my time, things were better. We can return to that path and even go further,” she declared.

With a bold promise to revamp key sectors of the economy, Dr. Banda outlined her campaign priorities: boosting mining, revitalizing local industries, expanding tourism, promoting trade, strengthening agriculture, and empowering youth and women.

“We cannot talk about development while ignoring the potential of our people and our resources,” she emphasized, drawing cheers from attendees.

As the country inches closer to the polls, Dr. Banda’s return adds renewed energy to the political landscape, positioning her as a seasoned leader offering experience, stability, and a vision for inclusive growth.
