The race for Machinga South is heating up, and MCP candidate Rodrick Mulonya is making bold moves — with a vision to end hunger and transform the district into a hub of development and tourism.
Speaking at Madziamela Primary School ground in Chamba, Mulonya launched his manifesto with a clear message: “Machinga has suffered for too long. It’s time for a leader with vision.”
He stressed that the district continues to face serious food shortages, and promised to lead an agricultural revolution that ensures no family goes hungry.
But Mulonya isn’t just thinking about food. He pledged to bring electricity and quality roads to neglected areas, opening up opportunities for trade and everyday life.
Perhaps most ambitious is his plan to revamp the Mposa dock on the shores of Lake Chilwa — turning it into a gateway for tourism and fisheries. “People should come and witness the wonders of Machinga,” he said, referencing the historical site where a meteorite once fell.
His event drew crowds, including Senior Chief Chamba and several MCP ward councillors, showing strong local support as elections draw near.
With passion and promises, Mulonya is positioning himself not just as a candidate — but as a game-changer for Machinga.
