Karonga based rights activist Comrade Lytone Mangochi, has urged people of the northern region of Malawi not to give votes to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera claiming that he loves the northerners when it comes to wooing for votes.
Mangochi said the five years of President Chakwera has seen the promises of the construction of Orton Chirwa international Airport and Mombera University been implemented on paper while on the ground, there is zero, besides billions of Kwachas allocated for it.
He said recently, President Chakwera was seen campaigning in northern region districts for votes asking President Chakwera to tell the northerners what he has implemented in the region making the northerners to vote for his bouncing back into government on the 16th September, 2025.
Speaking through a video clip, Mangochi has blamed the tendency of grading roads for the president to pass through saying this tendency will take Malawians to nowhere, the President must travel with his motorcade in bumpy and potholed roads for urgent fixing of the roads.
Mangochi said the Euthini road was graded at the time President Chakwera was passing through with his motorcade observing that this is the area where his running mate Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba is coming from, in Karonga district the same happened.
He has asked Malawians what type of development can government be boasting of grading roads at the time the President is coming for campaign meetings observing that the north has for so long been neglected but only promises of lies.
The activist has claimed that soft spoken parliamentarians from the north such as Kamlepo Kalua, Yeremia Chihana and Jappie Mhango, have for 5 years of President Chakwera been blocked from speaking in Parliament
.
He said it is sad that one of those who was at the helm of blocking development from the region by making sure that the voice of the northerners is not heard, was Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara also from the north.
“These three MPs if they were given a chance to speak in the National Assembly, northern region would not have registered failed projects under President Chakwera,” said Mangochi.
He has appealed to the people of the northern region to vote wisely on the 16th September, 2025 a leader who will be of a vision, mindset change and not President Chakwera who has been proved that he has failed millions of Malawians through his failed leadershi
