Blantyre, Malawi – Former President Joyce Banda has called on Malawians to rally behind President-elect Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, stressing that he has the vision and determination to address the challenges facing the nation.
Speaking ahead of the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, Joyce Banda emphasized the importance of unity and collective support for the incoming Head of State.
“Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is concerned about the struggles Malawians are going through. His focus now is to find solutions to lift people out of these challenges. What we need to do is stand with him,” said Banda.
Joyce Banda, who is also the leader of the People’s Party (PP), described Mutharika as a leader who prioritizes the needs of the people above everything else.
Supporting Mutharika’s Vision Against Hunger
In line with Professor Mutharika’s vision to end hunger in Malawi, Joyce Banda revealed that this week she opened feeding centers for children in Changalume and Namitungwi, with another center set to be launched in Chinamwali, Zomba, this Friday.
She said these initiatives complement Mutharika’s agenda of improving food security and ensuring that vulnerable communities have access to nutritious meals.
Confirmed Presence at the Swearing-In Ceremony
Banda also confirmed that she will personally attend the inauguration ceremony where Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will officially take the oath of office as the country’s new President.
