The Malawi government has placed three top officials from key statutory corporations on suspension, according to Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Justin Saidi.
The officials affected by the decision are George Kasakula, Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC); Daud Suleman, Director General of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA); and Humphrey Mdyetseni, Chief Executive Officer of the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).

Dr. Saidi announced that the suspensions are intended to create room for ongoing investigations into matters that have not yet been disclosed to the public.
He said the decision was made in the interest of transparency and to ensure that the investigations proceed without interference.
While specific details remain unclear, government insiders say the move underscores an ongoing effort to strengthen accountability and good governance within public institutions.
The suspensions are expected to be temporary, pending the outcome of the investigations being carried out by relevant authorities.

All three organizations play vital roles in national development, with MBC handling public broadcasting, MACRA overseeing communication and broadcasting regulation, and NEEF managing youth and business empowerment programs.
The Office of the President and Cabinet has assured the public that operations within the affected institutions will continue uninterrupted under interim leadership.
Further updates on the progress and findings of the investigations are expected to be made available in due course.
