Social media influencer Mneneli Joshua Chisa Mbele, has blamed the Commonwealth for appointing former President of Malawi Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to mediate in the Tanzanian 29th October, 2025 elections standoff.

Chisa Mbele said Commonwealth should have used common sense by appointing seasoned statesman with legal background or at least an appreciation of economics observing that President Chakwera is seriously handicapped when it comes to complex issues.

He said in Malawi, the citizens lived for 5 years of beautiful speeches but no tangible action on burning issues saying President Chakwera’s weakness was to agreeing with whoever comes with advice and do nothing thereby creating a wrong expectation and impression.

Writing on his face book page, Chisa Mbele has advised the Commonwealth that to save face, it should rescind the decision and appoint someone saying Chakwera’s administration was characterized by indecisiveness, intolerance, arrests, and beating up critics.

“I’m lucky to be alive, President Chakwera is definitely the wrong person to mediate the Tanzanian elections standoff, send Professor Edge Kanyongoro.

Political activist Bon Kalindo said it is shame that the Tanzanian people have rejected President Chakwera to mediate in their country’s elections standoff speaking clearly that they were following political and governance events in Malawi.

Kalindo said President Chakwera failed to bring peace in his country by allowing his party’s panga wielding thugs to be terrorizing and hacking innocent people, how come can such a person be trusted to mediate affairs of another country?

He said it is again sad that some other people in the MCP have let President Chakwera continue to lead the party to the 2030 elections, describing this as the worst mistake the party has committed, no one will vote for the MCP into power.

“Even all Presidents have gone, and there is one President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera standing, people will not vote for him,” said Kalindo.

He said President Chakwera left the country with pompousness that he has been trusted by the Commonwealth to mediate in Tanzanian elections through holding a press briefing saying he is expecting him to hold another press briefing in Lilongwe on his rejection by the Tanzanian people.

Kalindo said what has happened to President Chakwera in Tanzania should be a lesson to all the country’s presidents to learn to live better with their people because God hides tomorrow for everyone, and no one knows what tomorrow will be..
