Malawi Freedom Network (MFN) has launched a nationwide call for public news submissions, urging Malawians across all districts to take part in strengthening community journalism and amplifying local voices.

According to MFN editors, the initiative is aimed at ensuring that important stories happening in communities—especially in rural areas where media presence is often limited—are not left untold.

Speaking after announcing the campaign, MFN Managing Editor said the platform believes every citizen is a key eyewitness in national storytelling.

“There is always something happening in every village, every market, every school and every district. Many of these stories never reach the public. We want Malawians to know that their voices matter, and we are ready to publish what concerns them,” the editor said.

The public is encouraged to send news tips, photos, videos, community challenges, human-interest stories, and opinion pieces. MFN says all submissions will be reviewed and verified before publication.

The initiative comes at a time when digital media is rapidly growing as a trusted source of information in Malawi. MFN says citizen reporting will help expose corruption, highlight development challenges, celebrate achievements, and share real-life stories that shape the nation.

“If something is happening in your area—be the first to report it. Your story could help bring change, justice or support to your community,” MFN added.

Malawians can now submit stories through the official WhatsApp line:

Email: [email protected]

MFN has since assured contributors that their identities will be protected upon request, especially in sensitive reports.

With this new drive, MFN hopes to build a strong network of citizen reporters and make the platform the country’s leading hub for community-driven news.
