A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has claimed that MCP is now a divided party hence calling for all those that are behind endorsing President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to lead the party to 2030 elections, to leave the MCP.
Kamphangala said the four corner-stones upon which the MCP was founded by the late Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda of Unity, Loyalty, Obedience and Discipline were buried together with the remains of Kamuzu leaving the MCP in the hands of greed and corrupt people.
He said the party has been with the late Mr. Gwanda Chakuamba Phiri and Mr. John Zenasi Ungapake Tembo (JZU) after Kamuzu Banda but nobody of these two distinguished late politicians took the MCP as a personal entity just the way President Chakwera has taken the party.
The MCP diehard said the party is now being driven by misguided people who claim themselves that they are more MCP than others taking the party as a briefcase typed one forgetting that MCP is a national party being one of the oldest political parties in Africa.
He has claimed that the MCP Constitution was raped in 2019 by endorsing Chakwera to become the party’s torch bearer in the 2020 fresh presidential elections and in the 2025 elections meaning that President Chakwera has stood in the elections of 2014, 2019, 2020 and 2025 speaking clearly that the MCP is running without a Constitution.
Kamphangala said Richard Chimwendo Bnda has become the first Secretary General in the MCP to be allegedly linked to sponsoring MCP panga wielding thugs to terrorize and hacking innocent people in a quest for President Chakwera’s bouncing back into government.
He said the party under Eisenhower Mkaka as Secretary General was being driven smoothly in a gentlemanly life that there was the right man in the office unlike Chimwendo Banda who is not fit to be the party’s Secretary General.
The MCP diehard said since the party is now a divided one, he is requesting Eisenhower Mkaka to become the caretaker Secretary General of the party too replace Richard Chimwendo Banda who has allegedly destroyed the image of the MCP as a reformatory party under Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
He has demanded all those in support of Chakwera to lead the party to the 2030 elections to form their own political party and leave the MCP alone urging all MCP diehards to support the stand to go to court to obtain an injunction stopping MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera from continuing leading the party.
“I am urging all MCP family to be ashamed of what the state of affairs is in the party, stand up and defend the party from destruction by President Chakwera and a few misguided MCP senior members who are claiming that the party is theirs,” said Kamphangala.
He has assured the MCP to bless itself for more trouble if the endorsement of President Chakwera stands to lead the party to the 2030 elections urging all MCP members and supporters to work together to see to it that there is sanity in the party and no one is running the party as briefcase –typed political party.
