Chiradzulu District Hospital has been hit by a shocking theft after two X-ray machines mysteriously disappeared — a development now raising serious questions about internal security at the facility.
District Police Officer-in-Charge, Henry Kalungu, has confirmed the incident, revealing that the report reached police much later than expected, despite indications that the machines had gone missing earlier. The delay, he said, stemmed from internal disagreements at the hospital.
In a dramatic twist, the prime suspect — Yamikani Mapapa, an employee in the hospital’s X-ray department — allegedly attempted to take his own life by consuming poison shortly after the matter came to light. He survived and is currently receiving medical care.
Police say they are now waiting for the suspect to fully recover so they can proceed with formal questioning and push the investigation forward.
Authorities are treating the case as a major internal breach, with expectations that more details will emerge in the coming days.
