Malawi has once again stepped confidently onto the global diplomatic stage, reaffirming its commitment to meaningful international partnerships that deliver real development results for its people.
Speaking at the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum currently underway in Cairo, Egypt, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. George Chaponda delivered Malawi’s official statement, underscoring the country’s vision for deeper, action-oriented cooperation with the Russian Federation and African partners.

Conveying warm greetings from His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi,
Dr. Chaponda reaffirmed Malawi’s strong commitment to the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum Action Plan (2023–2026)—a roadmap designed to translate high-level political goodwill into tangible, people-centered development outcomes.
In his address, Dr. Chaponda highlighted Malawi’s strategic priority areas for cooperation, emphasizing sectors that are critical to accelerating national development and economic transformation.
These include energy and fuel security, agriculture and food security, value addition in the mining sector, and strengthening the health sector. He noted that progress in these areas is essential for building resilience, creating jobs, and improving livelihoods across the country.
Importantly, the Minister emphasized that these priorities are firmly anchored in Malawi 2063, the country’s long-term national development vision, and are fully aligned with Africa’s Agenda 2063, ensuring coherence between national ambitions and continental aspirations.
Dr. Chaponda also took the opportunity to reaffirm Malawi’s openness to investment, declaring that Malawi—the Warm Heart of Africa—is open for business.
He invited increased investment and mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly those that promote sustainable development, innovation, and inclusive economic growth.
“Malawi stands ready to work with partners who share our vision of development that delivers lasting benefits to our people,” he emphasized, noting that strategic international cooperation remains a key pillar of the country’s diplomacy.
Malawi’s active participation in the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum signals its determination to deepen global engagement, unlock new economic opportunities, and strengthen partnerships that support national and continental development goals—placing people, progress, and prosperity at the center of its foreign policy.
