Mwanamveka made the remarks while attending a community meeting in Phalombe District, where he served as guest of honour at an event organised by the area’s Member of Parliament, Feston Chauma. The well-attended gathering took place at Mileme Primary School ground in Jenala, drawing residents, party leaders, and stakeholders keen to hear government and party perspectives on food security and development.

Addressing the crowd, Mwanamveka underscored government’s commitment to stabilising maize prices through a combination of improved production, market interventions, and sound fiscal management. He said the projected price reduction would ease pressure on families and reinforce national efforts to ensure food availability across the country.

In his address, Chauma highlighted infrastructure as a top priority for the constituency, calling for the development of the Mwanga–Thanga road via Chitekesa. He said the road is critical to unlocking economic activity, improving access to markets and social services, and accelerating development in the area.

The meeting also attracted senior figures from the Democratic Progressive Party, including the party’s Southern Region Governor, Charles Mchacha, alongside other officials. Speakers reiterated the party’s commitment to grassroots engagement and practical solutions that respond to the needs of communities.

The Phalombe gathering showcased a united front, blending national economic assurances with local development priorities—an approach that leaders said is essential to delivering tangible benefits to Malawians.
