Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Fleetwood Haiya has paid glowing tribute to Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) for its 18-year sponsorship of the country’s elite football league, describing the partnership as one of the most impactful in the history of Malawian football.
Haiya said TNM’s long-standing support played a pivotal role in the growth, stability and transformation of the top-flight league, noting that the football fraternity remains deeply grateful for the company’s commitment and professionalism over nearly two decades.
He said while TNM’s sponsorship of the elite league has come to an end, FAM does not view the development as a complete exit from the sport but rather a transition into a new phase of engagement.

“As FAM, we highly appreciate what TNM has done for football over the years. Their contribution has left a lasting legacy, and we believe this is not a goodbye but a shift in how they can continue supporting the game,” Haiya said.
To honor the partnership, Haiya revealed that FAM plans to present TNM with a commemorative cup as a symbol of appreciation for the company’s immense contribution to local football.
He further emphasized that the association remains open and ready to work with TNM in other football-related initiatives should the company choose to remain involved in the sport.
“If TNM decides to continue supporting football in any form, FAM will ensure the company gets strong value from its investment—possibly even more than before,” Haiya added.
TNM has been one of the longest-serving sponsors of domestic football in Malawi, a partnership widely credited with improving the competitiveness and commercial profile of the country’s elite league.
