Speaking at the event, Muslim students’ patron Dr Sufian Saidi challenged the freshers to take their studies seriously while remaining steadfast in Islam, stressing that faith and education are complementary forces in shaping disciplined, principled, and successful graduates.

“Academic excellence and Islam can go hand in hand. When guided by strong values, education becomes a powerful tool for personal growth and service to society,” said Dr Saidi. To further motivate students, he announced plans to introduce academic excellence awards specifically aimed at recognizing and encouraging high-performing Muslim students at MUBAS.

Muslim Students Association (MSA) Chairperson Cassim Moles said the welcoming ceremony was organized to create a supportive environment for Muslim students on campus and to inspire new entrants to aim high. He emphasized that being Muslim should never be seen as a limitation to success.

“With commitment, discipline, and hard work, Muslim students can achieve distinctions and stand out academically. Our faith should be our strength, not a barrier,” Moles said.

One of the newly enrolled students applauded the MSA for the warm reception, saying the event made him feel proud to be a Muslim and motivated to excel in his studies. He particularly commended Architect and Lecturer Paison Kaisi and the Guest of Honour, Executive Dean Dr Rabiya Hanif, for their powerful and uplifting messages.

The ceremony set a positive tone for the academic journey ahead, reinforcing unity, faith, and ambition among Muslim students at MUBAS and affirming the association’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded, high-achieving graduates within the university community.
