Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is putting Malawi’s rural football on the map! Speaking at a two-day talent search hosted by the Shepherd Bushiri Foundation at the DAPP Teachers Training College sports ground in Dzaleka, Dowa, Prophet Bushiri emphasized the need to uncover and nurture hidden football talent in villages and refugee camps.

“Football in Malawi is booming in towns, but many gifted players in rural areas remain unseen. It’s time to bring their skills to the forefront and take our national game to the next level,” Bushiri said.
The Shepherd Bushiri Foundation invested a massive K20 million into the Dowa talent hunt, covering transportation, player welfare, prizes, and opportunities for standout players to shine in front of scouts. The initiative reflects Bushiri’s commitment to empowering young athletes and transforming Malawi’s football landscape from the grassroots up.

With events like this, the next generation of football stars could be coming from the most unexpected corners of the country!
