The defence in the ongoing Shephered Bushiri extradition case has asked the court to completely dismiss the case as the state has said it will parade one witness in the case instead of six as it was indicated earlier on. Meanwhile the case has been adjourned to 10 July for court's ruling on the yet to be written submissions on case dismissal application. In their arguements, the defence say they thought of praying for a dismissal knowing that it will be illegal to only parade one witness as it was supposed to be. A total of 1,200 households have received food relief courtesy of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri. According to Bushiri's representative, Prophet Willy Kalonga, the Prophet Bushiri continues to stand with the families he adopted from eight camps in TA Juma in Mulanje District. "The prophet will continue to support the families until they have sustainable economic activities," Kalonga said. Council Chairperson for Mulanje District, Thokozani Namoyo, said the council is grateful for the support being rendered to these families. Mulanje is one of the districts that were heavily affected by Cyclone Freddy.

ECG Jesus Nation Church founder Shepherd Bushiri has launched a project to reconstruct Namlenga Bridge in Mulanje District which was washed away as a result of Tropical Cyclone Freddy. He says the total costs will be known after feasibility studies and identification of a contractor, a process which has already began. Before launching the project, Bushiri inspected housing construction projects for Cyclone Freddy survivors where a number of houses have been completed for occupation. Aside from that, he also distributed clothes to Cyclone Freddy survivors in the district. Cyclone Freddy destroyed a lot of infrastructure and displaced thousands of people.

The High Court in Lilongwe has overturned a lower court ruling that witnesses in the prophet Shepherd Bushiri extradition case can testify virtually from South Africa. The court ruling means witnesses in the case need to come to Malawi and physically testify before the magistrate court. The ruling follows the appeal Bushiris had made before the Lilongwe High Court against an earlier ruling by the magistrate court. In his ruling, judge Bruno Kalemba began by saying witnesses to the extradition hearing are representatives of the requesting state.
