All eyes will be on the KUHES ground in Blantyre this afternoon as Young Eagles and Vanessa Reserve clash in the final of the Under-21 men’s handball championship, with the coveted national title up for grabs.
The much-anticipated final, scheduled to tip off at 12:30 pm, brings together two of the most consistent teams in the competition, both from the Central Region, after impressive semifinal performances over the weekend.
Young Eagles sealed their place in the final with a commanding 34–28 victory over Tiga Cubs, displaying discipline in defense and sharp finishing in attack. On the other hand, Vanessa Reserve underlined their attacking strength by overpowering Kukoma Babies 46–37 in a high-scoring semifinal encounter.
Before the final showdown, fans will be treated to the third-place playoff at 10:30 am, where Kukoma Babies and Tiga Cubs will battle for bronze honors after narrowly missing out on a place in the final.
The championship has showcased the depth of young handball talent in the country, with today’s matches expected to crown a new champion and cap off an exciting Under-21 tournament. Organisers have called on sports lovers in Blantyre and surrounding areas to turn up in large numbers to support the rising stars of Malawian handball.
