The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has reinforced its commitment to sports development by handing over a brand-new, state-of-the-art Scania Irizar i6 team bus to Silver Strikers Football Club on April 14, 2026.

The handover ceremony, held at the RBM Head Office in Lilongwe, marked a significant milestone for the club as it gears up for the 2026 football season. Speaking during the event, RBM Deputy Governor (Operations), Dr. Kisu Simwaka, said the investment is aimed at motivating the team to enhance its performance in the TNM Super League and other competitions.

Simwaka emphasized the importance of discipline and focus, urging players and technical staff to remain committed in their pursuit of success and silverware this season.

Receiving the bus on behalf of the club, Vice Board Chairperson Dr. Lameck Chinula expressed gratitude to RBM for its continued support, describing the donation as a major boost to the team’s logistics and morale.

The ceremony was also attended by RBM Executive Director for Corporate Affairs Mrs. Mercy Kumbatira, Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer Mr. Patrick Chimimba, and members of the club’s secretariat.

The new bus is expected to significantly improve travel comfort and efficiency for the team, giving the Bankers a competitive edge as they aim for top honours in Malawi’s elite football league.
